Cruise Line Job Types List Types of Employment

No Experience Required

This section lists jobs available on a Cruise Liner requiring no previous work experience. Remember you will have no food or accommodation bills. There is a very real chance of gaining a promotion in the future.

Galley

Dishwasher/Pot Cleaner (Salary $700-$800 US dollars per month)
Responsible for the cleaning and storage of all galley/onboard clients dishes, cutlery, pot and pans. No previous experience required for this position but basic English is generally requested. Potential promotion opportunities to other on-board positions can be achieved from this position.

Cleaner/Galley (Salary $700- $800 US dollars per month)
Responsible for various cleaning duties within the galley department. No previous experience required for this position. Basic English vocabulary is generally sought by employers. Potential promotion opportunities to other on-board positions could be achieved from this position.

Crew Messman (Salary $700-$1000 US dollars per month)
Under the supervision of the First Cook you would perform various tasks such as cleaning and routine hygiene maintenance of various equipment. No previous experience required for this position and a minimum standard of English is generally accepted. Good chance of transferring to other departments on-board from this position.

Engine

Wiper (Salary $1000-$1200 US dollars per month)
Responsible for various general duties within the engine room. Usually reporting to the fitter you could find yourself doing a different task every day. No previous experience required for this position although basic English skills are generally requested by the employer. Possible promotion opportunities to fitter over time.

Entertainment

Cruise Staff (Salary $1500-$2200 US dollars per month)
Responsible for general activities to entertain the clients, e.g. treasure hunts, bingo games etc. Previous experience within a similar position is desirable but not essential. Happy outgoing personality is a must along with fluent English.

Deck

Deck Assistants (Salary $900-$1200 US dollars per month)
You will be responsible for general duties on the deck e.g. running errands for paying guests, giving directions to various parts of the vessel. No previous experience required for this position although basis English is generally requested by potential employer.

Seaman (Salary $1400-$1700 US dollars per month)
You will be responsible for a variety of general duties throughout the vessel e.g. painting, moving chairs from different department etc. No previous experience required for this position although basis English is generally requested by potential employer.

Non Classified

Pool Attendant (Salary $900-$1300 US dollars per month)
Responsible for various duties around the swimming pool on the vessel e.g. cleaning, fetching fresh towels for passengers etc. No previous experience required for this position although a basic level of English is preferred.

General Staff (Salary $1500-$2000 Us dollars per month)
Assisting in a variety of tasks to take over at short notice for staff problems such as crew sickness. No experience required although a flexible approach to work essential. Good English skills required.

Shop Assistants (Salary $1600-$2000 US dollars per month)
Supplying general assistance within the many different types of shops onboard cruise ships. No previous experience required for these positions although good English is generally requested by employers.

Food & Beverage

Steward/Stewardess (Salary $1000-$1600 US dollars per month (tips/gratuities))
General duties within the lounge and restaurants. No previous experience required for this position although employers request a good level of English.

Housekeeping

Cleaner/Housekeeping (Salary $700- $1000 US dollars per month)
Responsible for various cleaning duties within the housekeeping department. No previous experience required for this position. Basic English vocabulary is generally sought by employers. Potential promotion opportunities into other on-board positions could be achieved from this position.

Bell Staff (Salary $1100-$1300 US dollars per month)
Responsible for services direct to the passengers sleeping quarters e.g. breakfast, drinks etc. No previous experience required for this position although a good grasp of English is desirable.

Assistant Cabin Steward/Stewardess (Salary $1200-$1500 US dollars per month)
Reporting to the Cabin Stewards you would be responsible for various cleaning duties with the passenger cabins e.g. changing laundry. No previous experience required and basic English skills accepted. Promotion opportunities to Cabin Steward/Stewardess.

Laundry/Linen Keeper (Salary $800-$1100 US dollars per month)
Reporting to the Assistant Laundry Supervisor you will be responsible to give aid in processing all the laundry requirements of crew and passengers. No previous experience required for this position although a basic level of English is preferred. Promotion opportunities to Assistant Laundry Supervisor from this position.

Yes, they dont pay much but you are getting a start. When you get experience and if you like the life, you can get promoted. There are jobs that pay well that you can work to in time.

I have worked on a ship previously these Jobs above may not sound like you earn a great deal of money but think of the experiance! its amazing, people you meet and the places you visit. * you do work long hours! its no 9-5 job on ships more like 14+ hrs daily.
